Since 1972 ...
Howard Sharp opened the first RV&E location in Penfield in 1972. Back then, RV&E was the place to purchase snowmobiles and parts. But even then, Howard knew that bicycles were his future. RV&E moved to its Fairport location in 1979. At that time, the building was half its current size. But as you know, location is everything and we have a great spot in the Village. You can see the Canal from our front windows. Commitment, loyalty and great customers have made RV&E Bike and Skate the oldest owner-operated bicycle store in Rochester. You couldn't ask for more choices in bikes and accessories to test ride, try on, and touch. This store is our home and we want you to feel great about each visit.
RV&E's proud of its reputation as a warm and friendly "hometown" shop. We invite you to stop in today and experience RV&E yourself at our Fairport or Canandaigua locations.
Who are the people behind RV&E?
Howard Sharp, CEO ("Chief Engineer for Outdoors") is our founder and owner. If there's an outdoor activity, Howard does it. He hunts, fishes, races cars...he even plows snow.
Doug Sharp enjoys cycling when he's away from the shop. His wife Dana completed the Ironman in Lake Placid in 2007 and 2010. He also races antique cars, manages the advertising, and keeps the web site filled with great information.
Dan has worked with Howard since 1979. Dan is a savvy buyer, a great salesman, a polished accountant, and an expert mechanic (when he has to be). When you're ready to lay out your hard-earned money on a new bike, you need to place your trust in the best. Dan is simply the best.
Tim is the Service Manager at RV&E Bike and Skate. He has been working with bicycles forever and working at RV&E for 16 years.
Andy is our main man in Canandaigua. He is an avid bicyclist, whether it is road, mountain or just single speed cruising he does it all. He will work with you to get the right bicycle and even fix that flat on your bicycle.
